Meta's Updated Shop Policy (April 24, 2024)

  • U.S. sellers must enable checkout on Facebook and Instagram
  • Direct checkout on Squarespace is no longer available through Meta platforms
  • Policy changes will roll out globally in coming months

Important Integration Limitations:

  • One-way sync from Squarespace to Meta Business Manager
  • Sales on Meta platforms don't sync with Squarespace
  • Separate inventory management required
  • Orders won't appear in Squarespace analytics
  • Meta's Commerce Manager needed for sales management

Prerequisites:

  • Active Squarespace store with physical products
  • Product images (minimum 500x500 pixels)
  • Product names and descriptions
  • Site title
  • Compliance with Meta's commerce policy
  • No site-wide password protection
  • Instagram Business account (if selling on Instagram)

Required Accounts:

  • Meta Business Manager
  • Facebook business page
  • Meta Pixel
  • Ad account

Synchronization Steps:

  1. Open Products on Facebook and Instagram panel
  2. Click Connect to Facebook
  3. Log in with personal account
  4. Choose features:
    • Facebook Ads
    • Facebook Shop
    • Instagram Shopping
  5. Complete account connection process

What Syncs:

  • Product ID
  • Title
  • Description
  • Main image
  • Lowest price
  • Inventory status (Updates occur hourly)

Managing Your Meta Shops:

  • Wait for approval (24-48 hours)
  • Set checkout method to "Checkout on Facebook and Instagram"
  • Access Meta Business Help Center for store management

Creating Facebook Ads:

  • Use dynamic ads for targeted promotion
  • Retarget interested customers
  • Track performance in Meta Ads Manager

Instagram Product Tagging:

  • Available after store approval
  • Tag products in stories and posts
  • Monitor success through traffic sources

To Disconnect Products:

  1. Open Products and Services panel
  2. Click Facebook and Instagram
  3. Select Disconnect twice
