Learn how to connect your Dotster domain to Squarespace using DNS Connect in 6 simple steps.

Step 1: Start the Connection in Squarespace

1. Go to Domains panel
2. Click "Use a domain you own"
3. Enter your domain name and click the arrow
4. Click "Connect Domain"
5. Select Dotster from the dropdown
6. Click "Connect Domain" again and "Continue"
7. Keep the DNS records panel open for reference

Step 2: Access Dotster DNS Settings

1. Log in to www.dotster.com
2. Locate your domain and click "Manage"
3. Click "DNS and Name Servers" in the sidebar
4. Select the "DNS Records" tab

Step 3: Add First CNAME Record

Create a CNAME record with:

• Name: [unique code from Squarespace]
• Type: CNAME
• Content: verify.squarespace.com
• TTL: 1 hour

Step 4: Add Second CNAME Record

Create another CNAME record with:

• Name: www
• Type: CNAME
• Content: ext-cust.squarespace.com
• TTL: 1 hour

Step 5: Add Four A Records

Create four A records, all with:

• Name: @
• Type: A
• TTL: 1 hour
• Content (one for each record):
  • 198.185.159.144
  • 198.185.159.145
  • 198.49.23.144
  • 198.49.23.145

Step 6: Wait for Connection

• Allow 24-72 hours for the connection to complete
• Monitor progress in Squarespace's DNS settings panel
• Green labels will appear as records connect
• Domain will show "Connected" when complete

Troubleshooting Tips:

• Use the DNS verification tool if you see "Unable to verify domain ownership"
• Check that all records match exactly
• Contact Dotster support if you need help with their settings

Remember: It's normal to see errors for up to 72 hours after setup. If errors persist beyond this timeframe, verify your DNS records or seek additional support.
