How to Connect a Dotster Domain to Squarespace: DNS Setup Guide
Start a domain connection with Squarespace by accessing the Domains panel and clicking "Use a domain I own." Enter your Dotster domain name and select Dotster from the dropdown menu.
Access your Dotster account at www.dotster.com and navigate to DNS settings for your domain through DNS and nameserver > DNS Records tab.
Add the following DNS records in your Dotster account:
First CNAME Record:
- Name: [unique code from Squarespace]
- Type: CNAME
- Content: verify.squarespace.com
- TTL: 1 hour
Second CNAME Record:
- Name: www
- Type: CNAME
- Content: ext-cust.squarespace.com
- TTL: 1 hour
Four A Records: Add these one by one, keeping all settings the same except the IP address:
- Name: @
- Type: A
- Content: (Use each IP address below)
- 198.185.159.144
- 198.185.159.145
- 198.49.23.144
- 198.49.23.145
- TTL: 1 hour
Wait 24-72 hours for the connection to complete. You can monitor progress in Squarespace's DNS settings panel - look for green checkmarks in the Current Data column.
If after 72 hours you see "Unable to verify domain ownership," verify your DNS records using Squarespace's DNS record verification tool in the Settings panel.
For specific Dotster account issues, contact their support team directly. Keep your Squarespace DNS settings panel open as a reference while making these changes.
