How to Add Social Media Sharing Buttons in Squarespace 7.0

Enable social sharing buttons to help visitors share your content across social media platforms, increasing your site's reach and traffic.

Supported sharing platforms include:

  • Facebook
  • LinkedIn
  • Pinterest (requires featured images)
  • Reddit
  • Tumblr

Adding Share Buttons

  1. Open "Sharing buttons" panel
  2. Check desired social media platforms
  3. Click Save
  4. Buttons will appear automatically on supported pages

Where Buttons Appear

  • Album Pages: Below album title
  • Events: Below description on main page and individual events
  • Blog Posts: Below content on main blog and individual posts
  • Products: Below description and on Add to Cart button

Customizing Share Buttons

  1. Go to Site Styles panel
  2. Scroll to Share buttons section
  3. Adjust:
    • Size
    • Spacing
    • Color
    • Style (icon only, solid, outlined, raised)
    • Labels

Hiding Share Buttons

To remove all sharing buttons:

  1. Open "Sharing buttons" panel
  2. Uncheck all social media sites

To hide on specific pages:

  • Product pages: Uncheck "Show share buttons" in Site Styles
  • Blog pages: Check "Hide entry footer list" (Bedford/Pacific templates)
  • Album/Events pages: Check "Hide album share link" or uncheck "Show social media buttons"

Platform-Specific Notes

Facebook:

  • Appears as Like icon in sharing links
  • Direct sharing available with advanced sharing buttons

Pinterest:

  • Only appears for content with featured images
  • Uses featured image for pinning

Template Family Exceptions

Advanced sharing buttons appear on:

  • Brine
  • Farro
  • Skye
  • Tremont
  • York

These templates show enhanced sharing options with additional styling capabilities on blog posts and product items.

Additional Social Integration

  • Add social media icons to Header/Footer
  • Embed social content (Tweets, Instagram photos)
  • Connect social accounts through Connected Accounts settings
