How to Connect a Squarespace Domain to Your Website
To connect a Squarespace domain to your site, ensure the domain is parked and both the domain and website are in the same Squarespace account. You'll need admin permissions for both.
Basic Requirements:
- Domain must be parked (not connected to another site)
- Domain and website must be in the same Squarespace account
- Admin permissions needed for both domain and website
Connect Your Domain:
- Go to domains dashboard
- Click your domain
- Select Website
- Click Connect Existing Websites
- Choose the site to connect
- Click Next, then Confirm
Change Domain Connection:
- Access domains dashboard
- Select your domain
- Click Website
- Choose Change Connection
- Pick new site
- Confirm changes
Remove Domain Connection:
- Open domains dashboard
- Select domain
- Click Website
- Select Change Connection
- Choose Park this domain
- Confirm removal
Important Notes:
- Cannot connect domain to specific pages (but can forward to them)
- Subdomains are treated as third-party domains
- If previously connected to third-party service, remove all records before reconnecting
- Keep billing and permissions separate from website
- Transfer domain instead of connecting if you want shared billing and permissions
For reconnecting after third-party forwarding, remove all external records and restore default Squarespace settings.
If you lack access:
- For website access: Request Admin participant permissions
- For domain access: Request domain administrator status
