
Google to Squarespace Domain Migration Guide: What You Need to Know
The Google Domains to Squarespace transition began on September 7, 2023, when Squarespace acquired all domain registrations and customer accounts from Google Domains. All migrations are now complete, with Squarespace serving as the new domain registrar.
Managing Your Domain
For existing Squarespace users:
- Log in at squarespace.com/login with your usual credentials
- Your domains appear in your domains panel
For new Squarespace users:
- Visit squarespace.com/login
- Click "Continue with Google"
- Select your Google Domains-associated account
- Follow verification steps if needed
Domain Management Features:
- Billing settings
- Contact information
- DNS records
- Name servers and DNSSEC
- Whois privacy
Billing Information:
- Subscriptions renew automatically yearly
- Existing multi-year registrations maintain original renewal dates
- Renewal notifications sent 15 days in advance
- Standard Squarespace rates apply from September 7, 2024

- No additional subscriptions required
- Existing registration time preserved
- Domain remains unlockable for transfers
- Google services (Analytics, Search Console, Ads) continue working
- URL redirects and email forwarding migrate automatically

- Domain collaborator permissions transfer as domain administrators
- Custom DNS settings may need updating
- Dynamic DNS not supported
