Title Format Types:

Page Title Format:

  • Applies to all pages except homepage and collection items
  • Default format: Page Title — Site Name (%p — %s)
  • Must include %p for titles to appear in browser tabs

Homepage Title Format:

  • Controls homepage appearance in browsers and search results
  • Default format: Site Title (%s)
  • %p variable uses previous SEO title or page title

Collection Item Format:

  • Controls appearance of blog posts, products, events, etc.
  • Default format: Item Title — Site Name (%i — %s)
  • Must include %i for titles to appear in browser tabs

Best Practices:

Brand Priority:

  • Place %s at the beginning to emphasize your brand
  • Ideal for established businesses with brand recognition

Content Priority:

  • Place %p or %i at the beginning to highlight specific content
  • Better for bloggers and sites with multiple open tabs
  • Helps with content-specific SEO ranking

You can add custom text to any format. Example: "%s | Digital Branding Agency" adds industry keywords to your site title.
