SEO Title Formats: A Guide to Optimize Your Website's Page Titles
SEO title formats control how your pages appear in browser tabs, search engine results, and social media links. They help create consistent structure and improved visibility across your site.
To edit title formats:
- Open SEO appearance panel
- Navigate to Search Appearance area
- Select Home, Pages, or Items tab
- Edit SEO Title Format field
- Click Save when finished

Available title format variables:
- %s - Site title
- %p - Page SEO title (or page title if no SEO title exists)
- %i - Collection item SEO title (or item title if no SEO title exists)

Title Format Types:
Page Title Format:
- Applies to all pages except homepage and collection items
- Default format: Page Title — Site Name (%p — %s)
- Must include %p for titles to appear in browser tabs
Homepage Title Format:
- Controls homepage appearance in browsers and search results
- Default format: Site Title (%s)
- %p variable uses previous SEO title or page title
Collection Item Format:
- Controls appearance of blog posts, products, events, etc.
- Default format: Item Title — Site Name (%i — %s)
- Must include %i for titles to appear in browser tabs

Brand Priority:
- Place %s at the beginning to emphasize your brand
- Ideal for established businesses with brand recognition
Content Priority:
- Place %p or %i at the beginning to highlight specific content
- Better for bloggers and sites with multiple open tabs
- Helps with content-specific SEO ranking
You can add custom text to any format. Example: "%s | Digital Branding Agency" adds industry keywords to your site title.
