Troubleshooting Common Google Workspace Issues

Can't access your Google Workspace inbox or experiencing email issues? Here's how to fix the most common problems:

Account Access Issues

  • Suspended account: Check if your subscription needs renewal through Squarespace
  • Can't log in: Ensure you're using your custom email (not @gmail.com) at admin.google.com
  • Domain migration issues: Update billing provider to Squarespace if migrated from Google Domains

Email Sending/Receiving Problems

  1. Check MX Records:
  • Verify correct MX record configuration
  • Remove old MX records before adding new ones
  • Allow up to 72 hours for changes to take effect
  1. Verify Subscriptions:
  • Confirm domain subscription is active
  • Ensure Google Workspace subscription isn't suspended
  • Update billing information if payment failed

Domain-Related Issues

  • For Squarespace domains: Add MX records in DNS settings
  • For external domains: Configure Google MX records through your domain host
  • Domain validation: Complete validation in Google Workspace Admin Console

Account Management

  • Adding users: Use Google Workspace panel in Squarespace
  • Transferring accounts: Process varies for Squarespace vs. external domains
  • Username conflicts: Wait 20 days after deletion before reusing usernames

Payment and Billing

  • Failed payments: Update billing information within 14 days
  • Suspension: Account suspended after 14 days of non-payment
  • Cancellation: Account transferred to Google after 40 days of suspension

Error Resolution

  • Username exists: Choose different username or resolve existing account
  • Domain linking issues: Submit domain ownership verification to Google
  • Invalid domain: Use only supported characters in domain name

For persistent issues:

  1. Check domain and subscription status
  2. Verify MX record configuration
  3. Allow for propagation time (up to 72 hours)
  4. Contact Squarespace support if problems persist
