New Index Page Guide: Complete Overview & Features for Version 7.0

Creating content-rich Index Pages in Squarespace 7.0 allows you to organize multiple subpages into visually appealing layouts. Here's how to set up and customize your Index Page:

Types of Index Page Designs

Three main designs are available:

  • Grid: Creates clickable image tiles linking to subpages
  • Stacked: Displays content sections vertically in a scrolling layout
  • Slideshow: Shows full-width background images with overlay content

Setting Up an Index Page

  1. Open the Pages panel and click the + icon
  2. Select "Index" from the menu
  3. Enter your page title and save

Adding Content

To add pages to your Index:

  1. Click "Add Page" under the Index page
  2. Choose from available page types
  3. Add content to subpages by clicking "Edit"
  4. Drag pages to reorder them

Customizing Featured Images

For each subpage:

  1. Hover over the page title
  2. Click the settings icon
  3. Select the Media tab
  4. Upload your featured image

Index Page Protection

  • Add passwords to the main Index Page in settings
  • For Grid/Slideshow: Protect individual subpages
  • For Stacked: Main password protects all subpages

Style Customization

Additional Content Display

To show unsupported content types:

  1. Add a Layout Page to your Index
  2. Use Summary Blocks for blogs and products
  3. Add Gallery Blocks for images
  4. Use Calendar Blocks for events
