
Managing DNS Settings: A Guide to Squarespace Domain Configuration
Access DNS records for your Squarespace domain to point it to your site or set up email services. This guide explains how to manage DNS settings effectively.
Accessing DNS Settings
- Go to your domains dashboard
- Click the domain name
- Select DNS in the sidebar
Adding Default DNS Records
Click "Add default values" to automatically insert correct settings for:
- Google Workspace
- Zoho Mail
- Google Workspace Verification
- Squarespace Default Settings
Restoring Squarespace Default Settings
If your domain stops connecting to your site:
- Open domains dashboard
- Select your domain
- Click DNS in sidebar
- Choose "Add default values" > "Squarespace Default Settings"
Removing Default Settings
- Navigate to DNS settings
- Find Squarespace Default Settings
- Click the red trash bin icon
- Confirm deletion
Handling DNS Conflicts
If you see "DNS record conflict" error:
- Check for duplicate records
- Look for conflicting record types
- Refresh and try again
- Ensure you're not mixing email service records
Custom DNS Records
Add custom records by scrolling to "Custom Records" section at the bottom of DNS settings.

- Connect third-party domains

- Change nameservers
- Set primary domains
- Transfer domains
- Add DNSSEC
Remember: Most DNS changes take 24-72 hours to propagate globally. For third-party domains, modify DNS records through your provider's dashboard, not Squarespace.
