Here's how to transfer a third-party domain between Squarespace sites:

Before You Begin:

  • Ensure your domain is active and not expired
  • You cannot connect domains to parked pages or expired sites
  • Your site must be on a paid plan

Step 1: Disconnect the Domain from Current Site

  1. Open the Domains panel
  2. Select your domain
  3. Scroll down and click "Disconnect Domain"
  4. Confirm by clicking "Disconnect"

Step 2: Connect Domain to New Site

  1. Log into your new Squarespace site
  2. Go to Domains panel
  3. Click "Use a Domain I Own"
  4. Enter your domain name and click Continue
  5. Select "Connect from Provider"
  6. Choose your domain provider (or select "Other")

Step 3: Update DNS Records For GoDaddy, Namecheap, or Network Solutions:

  • The connection happens automatically

For other providers:

  1. Copy the unique CNAME code from Squarespace's DNS settings
  2. Log into your domain provider
  3. Locate DNS management settings
  4. Find the CNAME record with verify.squarespace.com
  5. Replace the Alias field with the new code
  6. Save changes

Connection typically completes within 24 hours, but may take up to 72 hours.
