
How to Transfer Third-Party Domains Between Squarespace Sites
To transfer a third-party domain between Squarespace sites, follow these steps:
Note: This process works for domains registered through providers like Hostgator or Namecheap.
Before Starting:
- Ensure your site isn't a parked page (upgrade if needed)
- Verify both sites are active and not expired
- Confirm your domain registration is current
Step 1: Remove Existing Domain Connection
- Go to the original site's Domain panel
- Select the domain you want to transfer
- Scroll down and click "Disconnect Domain"
- Confirm by clicking "Disconnect"
Step 2: Connect Domain to New Site
- Log into your new Squarespace site
- Open the Domains panel
- Click "Use a Domain I Own"
- Enter your domain name and click "Continue"
- Select "Connect from provider"
- Choose your domain provider from the dropdown menu
For Automatic Connections (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Network Solutions):
- Log in to your provider account
- Click "Connect" in the provider's message
