Connecting a Namecheap domain to Squarespace can be done using either Nameserver Connect (recommended) or DNS Connect. Here's how to set it up:

Before Starting

  • Ensure Namecheap's default nameservers are intact
  • Review third-party domain connection requirements

Nameserver Connect Method (Recommended):

  1. In Squarespace:
  • Open Domains panel
  • Click "Use a domain I own"
  • Enter your domain name
  • Click "Connect domain"
  • Select "Get Started"
  1. In Namecheap:
  • Log into your account
  • Open domain dashboard
  • Select "Nameservers" > "Custom DNS"
  • Add these nameservers:
    • connect1.squarespacedns.com
    • connect2.squarespacedns.com
  • Save changes

DNS Connect Method:

  1. In Squarespace:
  • Open Domains panel
  • Click "Use a domain I own"
  • Enter domain name
  • Click "Connect domain"
  • Select "No, use DNS records"
  • Choose Namecheap from dropdown
  • Sign in to Namecheap
  • Click "Connect"

Connection Time:

  • Allow 24-72 hours for connection to complete
  • Monitor progress in Squarespace DNS Settings
  • Green labels indicate successful connection

Troubleshooting Tips:

  • If connection fails after 72 hours:
    1. Reset to default Namecheap nameservers
    2. Disconnect domain from Squarespace
    3. Manually reconnect following the steps above
  • Use DNS checker tool if "Can't verify domain ownership" appears
  • Contact Namecheap support for account-specific issues

The connection is complete when your domain shows a "Connected" label in the Domains panel.
