To find your Squarespace site's version and template, check the "Pages" panel at the bottom. In version 7.0, you'll also see your template name displayed there.

Version 7.1 Features:

  • All templates belong to one family
  • Share identical features and style options
  • Template name won't show in Pages panel
  • Uses both Intuitive Editor and Classic Editor
  • Cannot switch templates after selection
  • Customization options available

Version 7.0 Features:

  • Multiple template families
  • Each family has unique features and style options
  • Ten distinct families available
  • Template switching possible within same version
  • Template name visible in Pages panel

Important Notes:

  • Cannot switch between version 7.1 and 7.0 templates directly
  • Use upgrade tool to move from 7.0 to 7.1
  • Version 7.1 sites use Intuitive Editor for most sections
  • Classic Editor handles blogs, events, and product information

Template Selection:

  • Browse 7.1 templates in template store
  • Use Squarespace Design Kit with AI for custom layouts
  • Access 7.0 template store for older designs
  • Start new trial to test different versions

For Squarespace 5 users: If you don't see a left panel when logging in, you're likely using Squarespace 5, which is significantly different from newer versions.

Upgrading and Customization:

  • Use migration tools for 7.0 to 7.1 upgrades
  • Customize template designs within your version
  • Compare features using template comparison tables
  • Follow version-specific guides for accurate information
