Contacting your domain provider for support with DNS setup, domain transfers, and other domain-related tasks is often necessary. Here's what you need to know about getting help:

For Domain Transfers:

  • Check domain eligibility by asking your provider to verify:

    • Supported extension
    • Not a premium domain
    • 60+ days since registration/transfer
    • Active status
    • Unlocked status
    • Less than 9 years remaining registration
  • Verify if any services (like email) will be affected by transfer

  • Check transfer status if "Transfer in Progress" appears

  • Address failed transfers by getting specific denial reasons

For DNS Record Setup:

  • Request help adding required records:

    • CNAME record for www pointing to ext-cust.squarespace.com
    • CNAME record with unique verification code
    • A records pointing to:
      • 198.185.159.144
      • 198.185.159.145
      • 198.49.23.144
      • 198.49.23.145
  • Alternative TXT record setup if CNAME isn't supported

  • Check existing custom DNS records before connecting

For SSL Certificates:

  • Request CAA record setup with:
    • Flag: 0
    • Tag: issue (or issuewild for subdomains)
    • CA issuer: letsencrypt.org

For Email Campaigns:

  • Add verification records:
    • CNAME record for squarespace_domainkey
    • TXT record for domain root (@)
    • TXT record for DMARC

Remember that domain changes can take up to 24 hours to propagate. Always maintain clear communication with your provider and keep records of your correspondence.
