Connect a GoDaddy domain to your Squarespace site using either nameserver or DNS connection. Here's how:

Before Starting:

  • Verify your domain meets third-party domain requirements
  • Remove all active DNS records from GoDaddy
  • Keep default GoDaddy nameservers active
  • For subdomains, follow separate subdomain connection instructions

Option 1: Nameserver Connection (Recommended) Note: Not available for .ca, .au, or .com.au domains

  1. In Squarespace:
  • Open Domains panel
  • Click "Use my domain"
  • Enter your domain name
  • Click "Connect Domain"
  • Select "Get Started"
  1. In GoDaddy:
  • Sign in when prompted
  • Open DNS Management
  • Under Nameservers, click "Change"
  • Select "Enter my own nameservers"
  • Add these nameservers:
    • connect1.squarespacedns.com
    • connect2.squarespacedns.com
  • Save changes and confirm

Option 2: DNS Connection

  1. In Squarespace:
  • Open Domains panel
  • Click "Use my domain"
  • Enter domain name
  • Click "Connect Domain"
  • Select "No, I'll use DNS records"
  • Choose GoDaddy from dropdown
  • Sign in to GoDaddy
  • Click "Connect"
  • Click "Continue"

Waiting Period:

  • Nameserver connection: Up to 24 hours
  • DNS connection: Up to 72 hours

Troubleshooting Tips:

  1. Ensure default GoDaddy nameservers are active
  2. Log out of GoDaddy account
  3. Disconnect domain from Squarespace
  4. Try manual connection

Monitor connection status in the Domains panel. A green label appears when connected successfully.
