Types of Domain Locks

  1. Contact Information Update Lock
  • 60-day lock when changing domain contact details
  • Applies to Squarespace Domains LLC and II LLC
  • 10-day lock for Tucows registrar email updates
  1. New Registration Lock
  • Some registrars apply 60-day lock for new domains
  • Varies by TLD and registrar
  • Tucows and Key Systems enforce 60-day lock
  1. Transfer Lock
  • Applies after transferring domain to Squarespace

Managing Locked Domains

To Disable Default Lock:

  1. Access Domains panel
  2. Select target domain

Best Practices:

  • Keep domain lock enabled unless transferring
