Before integrating Disqus comments, ensure your site uses a consistent URL to maintain comment visibility across all visitors.

To set up Disqus on your site:

  1. Create a Disqus Shortname:
  • Log into Disqus
  • Click [Add Disqus to Site]
  • Choose [I want to install Disqus on my site]
  • Enter your website name
  • Select a category
  • Click [Create Site]
  • Choose a subscription plan
  • Select Squarespace platform
  • Copy your Shortname
  1. Add Disqus to Squarespace:
  • Open blog settings
  • Paste Disqus Shortname
  • Click [Save]
  • Enable comments in [Comment Settings]
  • Verify comments are enabled on individual posts

Key Features:

  • Threaded conversations
  • Image comments
  • Social media login options
  • Customizable appearance

Troubleshooting Tips:

  • Ensure you created a Website account (not User account)
  • Verify Shortname is correctly entered
  • Add secure (https) version of domain as trusted
  • Check that Ajax loading is disabled
  • Confirm URL matches Disqus account settings

Important Notes:

  • Previous Squarespace comments won't transfer to Disqus
  • Comments only appear on the URL registered with Disqus
  • Visitors must login via Disqus, Facebook, Twitter, or Google
  • Different URLs (custom domain vs. Squarespace URL) won't share comments

For customization options and additional support, consult Disqus documentation.
