
How to Install and Set Up Disqus Comments on Squarespace
Disqus comments replace Squarespace's default commenting system, offering enhanced features like threaded conversations and image comments. Here's how to set it up:
Before Starting
- Comments only appear on the URL registered with Disqus
- Add your secure (https) primary domain to Disqus as trusted
- Ensure all visitors use the same URL to view comments
Create Your Disqus Shortname:
- Log in to Disqus
- Click "Add Disqus to Site"
- Select "I want to install Disqus on my site"
- Enter your website name (becomes your shortname)
- Choose a category
- Click "Create Site"
- Select a Disqus plan
- Choose Squarespace as platform
- Copy your shortname
Set Up on Squarespace:
- Open Blog Preferences panel
- Enter Disqus shortname
- Click Save
- Go to Comment Settings
- Enable comments globally
- Enable comments on individual posts as needed
Using Disqus Comments:
- Visitors must log in via Disqus, Facebook, Twitter, or Google
- Comments appear only on the registered URL
- Customize appearance through Disqus settings
