When your site isn't loading, follow these steps to identify and resolve the issue:

  1. Check System Status
  • Visit status.squarespace.com to see if there are any system-wide issues
  • Subscribe to SMS or email updates for service notifications
  • If all services are operational, proceed with troubleshooting
  1. Test Your Domain
  • Try accessing your site using the built-in .squarespace.com domain
  • If the built-in domain works, the issue is likely with your custom domain

For Third-Party Domains:

  • Verify DNS settings are correct
  • Review domain connection settings
  • Check your domain provider's status page
  • Allow 72 hours for recent domain connections

For Squarespace Domains:

  • Confirm Website Defaults records in DNS settings
  • Verify domain registration (required within 15 days)
  • Check if domain has expired
  1. Check Site Expiration
  • Look for "Website Expired" message
  • Reactivate site if payment failed or auto-renew was disabled
  1. Wrong Site Loading?
  • Verify domain connection to correct site
  • Check site management:
    • Log into your account
    • Access Home menu
    • Click profile picture/initials
    • Locate correct site in grid view
    • Search by site title or domain name

If issues persist after following these steps, contact Squarespace support for assistance.

Note: For slow-loading sites, refer to the "My site is loading slowly" guide instead.
