
Squarespace Site Down? Complete Troubleshooting Guide
If your site isn't loading, follow these troubleshooting steps to get it back online:
Check System Status
Visit status.squarespace.com to check for any system-wide issues. Subscribe to SMS or email updates to stay informed about service status.
Test Your Domain
- Try accessing your site using the .squarespace.com integrated domain
- If this works, the issue is likely with your custom domain
For Third-Party Domains (GoDaddy, 1&1, Hover, etc.):
- Verify DNS settings are correct
- Check domain provider's status page
- Allow up to 72 hours for recent domain connections
For Squarespace Domains:
- Confirm Website Default Values in DNS records
- Ensure domain is verified (required within 15 days)
- Check if domain has expired
Reactivate Expired Sites
If you see "Website has expired," this means:
- Automatic payment failed
- Automatic renewal is disabled
- Site needs manual reactivation
Wrong Site Loading?
If incorrect site appears:
- Log into your account
- Click your profile picture/initials in Home menu
- View all sites connected to your profile
- Search by site title or domain name
- Click the correct site preview to access it
The domain might be connected to another site - transfer it to the correct one if needed.
