An effective page password restricts access to specific content while keeping other pages public. When enabled, a lock icon appears next to the protected page in the Pages panel.

Key Password Requirements:

  • Maximum 30 characters (case-sensitive)
  • Don't use your account password
  • Same password for all visitors
  • Not available for member site pages

How to Set a Page Password:

  1. Open Pages panel
  2. Select the page to protect
  3. Click settings icon
  4. Enter password under "Password" field
  5. Click Save
  6. Optional: Move to "No Link" section to hide from navigation

Important Notes:

  • Password sessions expire after 4 hours
  • Viewers need password even with viewing permissions
  • Password protect new pages before adding content to prevent search indexing
  • Protected collection pages also protect individual items within
  • Cannot set individual passwords for collection items

Security Considerations:

  • Password protected pages won't be indexed by search engines
  • Visitors must enter password before page views are counted
  • Password entries display as dots (••••) for security
  • Entire site can be password protected separately

Troubleshooting Tips:

  • Check site-wide password settings if issues persist after removal
  • Disable password managers when editing settings
  • Type passwords manually instead of copying/pasting
  • Use private browsing to test password functionality

Password protection effectively controls access while maintaining site security. Test thoroughly in private browsing mode to ensure proper functionality.
