Password protection restricts access to specific pages, requiring visitors to enter a password to view the content. Here's how to set it up and manage it effectively:

Key Password Requirements:

  • Must be case-sensitive
  • Maximum 30 characters
  • Cannot match your Squarespace account password
  • Single password for all visitors
  • Session expires after 4 hours

Setting a Password:

  1. Open Pages panel
  2. Select the page to protect

  4. Scroll to Password field
  5. Enter password
  6. Click Save

Important Notes:

  • Password protection also applies to all items in collection pages (blogs, events, portfolio, shop)
  • Protected pages won't be indexed by search engines
  • Contributors with viewer permissions need the password
  • Page views are only counted when password is entered
  • Not available for members-only sites

Modifying Passwords:

  1. Open Pages panel
  2. Select protected page
  3. Open Page Settings
  4. Scroll to Password
  5. Edit or delete password
  6. Save changes
