Here's a concise, informative rewrite:

Email authentication helps prevent your campaigns from being marked as spam. This is particularly important when using custom email domains (e.g., [email protected]).

For domains registered with Squarespace, verification is automatic. For third-party domains, you have two options:

  • Transfer the domain to Squarespace for automatic validation
  • Manually add verification records to your DNS settings

To manually verify a third-party domain:

  1. Find Your Verification Records
  • Go to email campaign settings
  • Under Sender Details, click Authenticate
  • Note the two required DNS records
  1. Access DNS Settings For Nameserver Connect:
  • Open domains panel
  • Click domain name under third-party managed domains
  • Click Edit next to DNS settings
  • Select Add Record under Custom Records

For DNS Connect:

  • Log into your domain provider's account
  • Locate DNS settings (may be called Zone File Settings, Manage Domains, or DNS Manager)
  1. Add Two Required Records

First Record:

  • Type: CNAME
  • Host: squarespace._domainkey
  • Data: squarespace-domainkey.squarespace-mail.com

Second Record:

  • Type: TXT
  • Host: _dmar

Important Note: If your domain has a DMARC policy set to p=reject, domain verification is required before using sender details. Contact your provider if unsure about DMARC policies.

Remember to save changes after adding each record. Verification may take up to 72 hours to complete.
