Hosting a podcast on your blog requires proper setup to ensure seamless syndication through platforms like Apple Podcasts. Follow these essential steps to get started:

Before Starting:

  • Ensure your first blog post contains an Audio block
  • RSS feeds can include up to 300 latest episodes
  • Follow Apple Podcasts' formatting standards

Setup Process:

  1. Create a Blog Page
  • Add a new Blog page or use an existing one
  • Choose a permanent URL slug (changing it later may cause syndication issues)
  • Each podcast episode will be a blog post with an Audio block
  1. Configure Podcast Settings
  • Access Pages panel
  • Click the gear icon next to your Blog page
  • Navigate to Feed tab > Podcasting
  1. Enter Required Information
  • Title and author name
  • Description
  • Episode display format (Episodic or Series)
  • Feed type (Standard or Optimized)
  • Copyright information (optional)
  • Contact details (email recommended for wider platform compatibility)
  1. Add Cover Image Requirements:
  • Square .jpg or .png format
  • Maximum size: 512 KB
  • Dimensions: 1,400-3,000 px square
  • RGB color format
  • 72 DPI
  1. Generate RSS Feed URL Format: yoursitename.squarespace.com/blogname?format=rss

  2. Submit to Apple Podcasts:

  • Log into Podcasts Connect
  • Validate your feed
  • Submit for approval
  • Wait for confirmation email

Important Notes:

  • Only first Audio block per post appears as an episode
  • Updates take approximately 24 hours to reflect
  • Create separate Blog pages for multiple podcasts
  • Use predefined .squarespace.com URL for stability
  • Maintain all required fields for successful syndication

Updating Your Podcast:

  • Add new blog posts with Audio blocks
  • Updates sync automatically with podcast platforms
  • Multiple Audio blocks per post: only first one syndicates

Multiple Podcasts:

  • Use separate Blog pages for each podcast
  • Submit each feed individually
  • Maintain distinct RSS feeds for each show
