How to Set Up Custom Email Addresses with Squarespace
A custom email address matching your domain adds professionalism to your business communications. When you have a Squarespace-linked custom domain, you can create email addresses like [email protected].
There are two main ways to set up custom email with Squarespace:
- Google Workspace Integration (For New Email Addresses)
- Seamlessly integrates with Squarespace
- Billing managed through Squarespace
- Access to Google's email, calendar, and document services
- Works with both Squarespace and third-party domains
- Existing Email Address
- Continue using your current custom email provider
- Compatible with Squarespace and third-party domains
- Requires MX record updates for Squarespace domains
Important Notes:
- Squarespace doesn't host email services
- Email is always hosted externally, even with Squarespace domains
- Site hosting, domain hosting, and email hosting are separate services
To Prevent Spam Filtering:
- Add DKIM records to your domain
- Implement SPF records
- Follow provider-specific authentication steps:
- Google Workspace users: Use Google's DKIM and SPF documentation
- Other providers: Contact your email provider for specific instructions
Service Distribution:
- Website: Always hosted by Squarespace
- Domain: Can be hosted by Squarespace or third-party
- Email: Always hosted by external provider (Google Workspace or other)
For optimal email delivery, ensure proper setup of authentication records and follow anti-spam best practices recommended by your email provider.
