How to Resolve Suspended Squarespace Domain Issues
A Squarespace domain can be suspended if you don't verify ownership via email within 15 days of registration or if there's an issue with your annual registration summary email. Here's how to fix it:
Check If Your Domain Is Suspended
Look for a red "Domain suspended" warning in your Domains dashboard. If you don't see this warning but your domain isn't working, try clearing your browser cache and disabling extensions first.

Pending email verification
How to Lift the Suspension
- Check Your Email
- Search inbox and spam for emails from [email protected] or [email protected]
- Subject line: "Please verify your domain name(s) as soon as possible"
- Click the verification link in the email
- Verify Domain Owner's Email
- Open Domains dashboard
- Click suspended domain
- Click Edit in Registration Information
- Check/update Owner email address
- Save changes
- Resend Verification Email
- Click "Resend verification email" button
- Check both inbox and spam for new verification email

Squarespace reactivate button
- Try Alternative Email If still unable to verify:
- Open Domains dashboard
- Click suspended domain
- Edit Registration Information
- Enter different email address
- Save and resend verification
Important Notes:
- Domain verification takes about 15 minutes after completing steps
- Suspended domains remain yours until expiration
- Annual verification emails are sent by Tucows (registrar)
- Failed delivery of annual verification emails can trigger suspension
- Domains will auto-renew or expire based on payment status, regardless of verification
