Content migration on Squarespace is straightforward, allowing you to move assets between platforms while keeping everything organized in one place.

Importing Content

You can import content from:

  • WordPress, Blogger, and Tumblr
  • Squarespace 5 (version 7.0 sites only)
  • For Commerce: Shopify, Etsy, Big Cartel, and .csv files

Import Process:

  1. Open "Import and Export Content"
  2. Click Import
  3. Select source
  4. Activate imported pages
  5. Transfer pages to main navigation (optional)

Product Import Limits:

  • Version 7.1: Up to 10,000 products per Store Page
  • Version 7.0: Up to 200 products per Store Page Use multiple pages to import additional products

Image and Video Migration:

  • Images and videos can be imported from WordPress, Blogger, or Tumblr
  • Product images import automatically with product details
  • Enable metadata import for professional photography management
  • Individual images can be downloaded from the Asset Library

Mailing List Migration:

  • Import email lists as .csv files from other marketing services
  • Export specific email lists or all contacts (including customers, subscribers, members, and donors)

Important Notes:

  • Importing creates a static copy; no synchronization between platforms
  • Direct content transfer between Squarespace 7 sites isn't possible (except for products)
  • Import scope varies by platform (text, images, product details)
  • Exported content saves as .xml file
  • No bulk image/video export available

For those leaving Squarespace, content can be exported to a .xml file, though you cannot transfer content directly between Squarespace sites.
