How to Hide Your Website from Search Engine Results: A Complete Guide
Web crawlers scan and index website content for search engines. You can prevent your site or specific pages from appearing in search results while keeping them accessible to visitors.
Block Your Entire Site From Search Results
- Go to Settings > Crawlers
- Check "Block search engine crawlers"
This adds a rule to your robots.txt file that prevents search engines from indexing your site.
Hide Specific Pages From Search
You can add a noindex tag in two ways:
Using Page Settings (Recommended)
- Available on all plans
- No coding required
- Removes page from sitemap
- Not available for homepages
- Enabled on demo pages
To add via page settings:
- Open Pages panel
- Click next to the page
- Go to SEO tab
- Enable "Hide page from search results"
Using Code Insertion
- Requires paid plan
- Requires manual code addition
- Page stays in sitemap
- Works for homepages
- Must add code to page header
Important Notes:
- Adding noindex to a collection page excludes all items within it
- Individual collection items can't be excluded separately
- Adding noindex to an index page doesn't exclude subpages
- Pages remain visible in site search
- To hide all pages, add noindex to main index and each subpage
This approach maintains functionality for visitors while controlling search engine visibility according to your preferences.
