How to Add Swiftype Search to Your Squarespace Site

Swiftype is a powerful search engine that can be integrated with your Squarespace site. Here's how to set it up:

Prerequisites:

  • Your site must be public
  • You can only add one Swiftype search field per page

Creating Your Swiftype Search Engine:

  1. Log into Swiftype
  2. Click "Create a new engine"
  3. Enter your website URL and verify it
  4. Wait for site scanning to complete
  5. Name your search engine
  6. Click "Create engine" then "Complete setup"
  7. Select "Install Search"
  8. Customize your search field
  9. Click "Enable Site Search"
  10. Copy both the installation and search field codes

Adding Swiftype to Squarespace:

Step 1: Install the Base Code

  • Go to Site Settings > Advanced > Code Injection
  • Paste the installation code in the Header field
  • Save changes

Step 2: Add Search Field to Pages

  • Insert a Code Block where you want the search to appear
  • Paste the search field code
  • Save changes

Important Notes:

  • Code customizations are not supported by Squarespace support
  • Functionality may vary across devices and platform updates
  • Only one search field will work per page
