Connect your Namecheap domain to Squarespace using either Nameserver or DNS connection. This guide covers both methods, with Nameserver Connection being the recommended option unless you need custom DNS records.

Nameserver Connection Method (Recommended)

  1. In Squarespace:

    • Open Domains panel
    • Click "Use my domain"
    • Enter your domain name
    • Click "Connect Domain"
    • Select "Get Started"
  2. In Namecheap:

    • Log into your account
    • Open domain dashboard
    • Select "Nameservers" > "Custom DNS"
    • Add these Squarespace nameservers:
      • connect1.squarespacedns.com
      • connect2.squarespacedns.com
    • Save changes

DNS Connection Method

  1. In Squarespace:

    • Open Domains panel
    • Click "Use my domain"
    • Enter domain name
    • Select "No, I'll use DNS records"
    • Choose Namecheap from dropdown
    • Sign in to Namecheap
    • Click "Connect"
  2. In Namecheap:

    • Log into account
    • Update DNS records as provided
    • Save changes

Important Notes:

  • Connection takes 24-72 hours to complete
  • Keep Namecheap's default nameservers during initial setup
  • Green label appears in DNS Settings when connected
  • Temporary errors are normal during the first 72 hours

Troubleshooting

If connection fails after 72 hours:

  1. Reset nameservers to Namecheap defaults
  2. Unlink domain from Squarespace
  3. Remove Squarespace nameservers
  4. Start connection process again

For record verification:

  • Use DNS checker tool in DNS Settings
  • Verify CNAME and A records
  • Contact Namecheap support for account-specific issues

Remember to maintain existing DNS records if you're using email or other services with your domain.
