Categories vs. Tags
Categories are broad topic organizers (like "Shirts" or "Dinner") and should be used selectively. Tags are more specific keywords that can be used liberally to describe content details.
Where You Can Use Categories and Tags
- Blog posts
- Events
- Products
- Videos (categories only)
- Album tracks
- Gallery images and videos
Adding Categories and Tags
In the item editor:
- Click Settings > Options
- For tags: Enter text and press Enter (or separate multiple tags with commas)
- For categories: Click Categories, enter name, press Enter
- Click Save
Formatting Rules:
- Categories: 25 character maximum
- Tags: 80 character maximum
- Case-sensitive
- Avoid special characters
- No limit per item
Display Options
Categories can appear as:
- Primary or secondary metadata
- Navigation elements (store pages)
- Above/below content
- In Tag Cloud Blocks
- In Summary Blocks
