Fast Ajax Loading Guide for Squarespace 7.0 Templates
Ajax Loading in modern websites makes navigation smoother and faster by loading only necessary content when moving between pages. Here's everything you need to know about Ajax Loading in version 7.0.
Ajax Loading helps create a seamless user experience by keeping static elements like headers and footers loaded while only updating the main content area. This is particularly beneficial for content-heavy pages like blogs and galleries.
Supported Template Families:
- Brine
- Farro
- Skye (Blog landing page only)
- Tremont
- York
Ajax is enabled by default for visitors, offering these key benefits:
- Faster page transitions
- Smoother navigation experience
- Reduced server load
- Better user engagement
Note: Ajax is always disabled for logged-in editors to ensure proper functionality while making changes.
Managing Ajax Settings:
- Navigate to "Website Styles"
- Find "Enable Ajax Loading"
- Toggle the setting as needed
Important Considerations:
- Ajax may conflict with custom code and anchor links
- Can affect website analytics (only records first page visit)
- Cannot be disabled in Skye family
- Remains active on Farro blog landing pages regardless of settings
Loading Bar Feature: Available for Brine and Farro templates, the loading bar shows content loading progress.
To Customize Loading Bar:
- Access "Website Styles"
- Find "Website: Loading"
- Adjust width and color or disable completely
For optimal performance, keep Ajax Loading enabled unless you experience specific conflicts with custom functionality or analytics requirements.
