A properly formatted DNS connect requires specific CNAME and A records to connect your DreamHost domain to Squarespace successfully.

Step 1: Connect Domain in Squarespace

1. Go to Domains menu
2. Click "Use External Domain"
3. Enter your domain name
4. Select DreamHost from providers
5. Click "Connect Domain"
6. Keep the DNS settings window open for reference

Step 2: Access DreamHost Settings

1. Log into DreamHost account
2. Navigate to Domains > Manage Domains
3. Switch from Full Hosting to DNS Only Hosting
4. Ensure HTTPS shows "Not Secure"
5. Remove any existing SSL certificates

Step 3: Add First CNAME Record

• Host: [unique verification code]
• Type: CNAME
• Points to: verify.squarespace.com

Step 4: Add Second CNAME Record

• Host: www
• Type: CNAME
• Points to: ext-cust.squarespace.com

Step 5: Add A Records Add four A records with following values:

• Host: @ (blank)
• Points to:
  • 198.185.159.144
  • 198.185.159.145
  • 198.49.23.144
  • 198.49.23.145

Important Notes:

• Connection takes 24-72 hours to complete
• Keep existing Mail/Email DNS records
• Monitor progress in Squarespace DNS settings
• Green labels indicate successful connection
• Use DNS Record Checker for troubleshooting
