Protect Your Email Campaigns: Malware Prevention Guide
Email campaign subscriber verification ensures your emails avoid spam folders through two main methods: reCAPTCHA and confirmation emails.
Verification Options
You can manage verification settings in "Email Marketing Settings" under Verification Options. For newsletter blocks and promotional pop-ups using Squarespace storage, enable at least one:
- Google reCAPTCHA: Invisible security feature preventing bot submissions
- Confirmation Email: Requires subscriber email verification
Note: Verification isn't available for checkout sign-ups, manually added addresses, or imported contacts.
Google reCAPTCHA
This invisible security check works with:
- Form blocks with required email fields
- Newsletter blocks using Squarespace storage
- Promotional pop-ups
reCAPTCHA is enabled by default on form blocks. You can disable confirmation emails if reCAPTCHA is active by turning off the "Send confirmation email" toggle in respective block settings.

Confirmation Emails
New subscribers receive verification emails before being added to your list. These work with:
- Form blocks with email sign-up
- Newsletter blocks
- Promotional pop-ups
- Acuity Scheduling opt-ins (free services only)
- Free member site registrations
- Cover page newsletter sign-ups (v7.0)
Customizing Confirmation Emails:
- Access "Email Marketing Settings" > Verification Options
- Click "Customize Email"
- Edit text, design, and layout
- Modify subject line and preview text
- Test the email using the Test button
- Save changes
Troubleshooting
If subscribers don't receive confirmation emails:
- Check spam folders
- Add [email protected] to contacts
- Verify email address accuracy
- Try signing up with a different email
For 404 errors during confirmation:
- Reset form storage connection
- Ensure domain properly points to Squarespace site
- Verify mailing list connection is active
