Using multiple domains can enhance your marketing strategy and increase online visibility. Here's how to effectively manage multiple domains:

Understanding Domains vs. Sites

A domain is like a street address that leads to your website. While every site needs at least one domain, you can have multiple domains pointing to the same site or use domains without an active website.

Managing Multiple Domains

Access your Domains dashboard to view and manage all associated domains. From here, you can:

  • Connect domains to different sites
  • Point multiple domains to one site
  • Park unused domains temporarily

Benefits of Multiple Domains

  • Capture common misspellings of your brand name
  • Prevent competitors from registering similar domains
  • Increase ways for visitors to find your site
  • Protect your brand identity

Example: If you own "mysite.com," consider registering:

  • my-site.com
  • mysite.net
  • my-site.net

SEO Considerations

Multiple domains won't hurt your search rankings. Squarespace automatically redirects additional domains to your primary domain, preventing duplicate content penalties.

Billing Management

To manage domain billing:

  1. Open Domains dashboard
  2. Select the domain
  3. Click Billing in sidebar
  4. Edit billing address or saved card as needed

Note: Changing billing for one domain affects all domains in the same group.

Adding Domains

You can add domains through:

  1. Registering a Squarespace domain
  2. Transferring an existing domain
  3. Connecting a third-party domain

Using Domains Without Sites

Park unused domains on a placeholder page until you're ready to use them. This protects your domain while maintaining ownership.

Domain Options

When reorganizing domains, you can:

  • Move to another Squarespace site
  • Redirect to a different website
  • Transfer to a new provider
  • Cancel or disconnect the domain

Remember: Each domain is billed individually, and canceling site service doesn't automatically cancel domain registrations.
