A simple domain is a web address that doesn't include "www" at the beginning (example: yourdomain.com instead of www.yourdomain.com). Here's how to remove the "www" prefix from your domain:

For Squarespace-Managed Domains:

  1. Navigate to the Domains panel
  2. Locate the domain you want to modify
  3. Turn off the "Use the 'www' prefix" setting

For Third-Party Domains:

  1. Access the Domains panel
  2. Find your domain
  3. Disable the "Use the 'www' prefix" option

Important Notes:

  • Changes can take 24-72 hours to fully process
  • After processing, visitors will see only the simple domain in their address bar
  • Both versions of your domain (with and without "www") will still work
  • The simple domain will become the primary display version

Squarespace domains automatically include both versions by default, but you can choose which one appears in the address bar. When visitors type either version, they'll be directed to your preferred format.

Remember: Domain changes may temporarily affect your website's accessibility while DNS records update. Plan to make these changes during low-traffic periods.
