
How to Connect WordPress Domain to Squarespace: DNS Setup Guide
Start by connecting your WordPress domain to Squarespace using DNS Connect. Here's a step-by-step guide:
Step 1: Start the Squarespace Connection
- Go to Domains panel
- Click "Use a domain I own"
- Enter your domain name and click the arrow
- Click "Connect domain"
- Select WordPress from dropdown
- Click "Connect domain" again
- Click "Continue"
Step 2: Access WordPress DNS Settings
- Log into WordPress
- Navigate to My Site > Upgrades > Domains
- Select your domain
- Click "Change your name servers & DNS records"
- Click "DNS records"
Step 3: Add First CNAME Record
- Copy the unique code from Squarespace's Host column
- In WordPress, select CNAME from Type dropdown
- Paste the unique code in the first field
- Enter "verify.squarespace.com" in Alias Of field
- Click "Add new DNS record"
Step 4: Add Second CNAME Record
- Select CNAME from Type dropdown
- Enter "www" in the first field
- Enter "ext-cust.squarespace.com" in Alias Of field
- Click "Add new DNS record"
Step 5: Add Four A Records Create separate A records for each IP address:
- 198.185.159.144
- 198.185.159.145
- 198.49.23.144
- 198.49.23.145
For each record:
- Select A from Type dropdown
- Leave first field blank
- Enter IP address in Alias Of field
- Click "Add new DNS record"
Wait 24-72 hours for the connection to complete. Monitor progress in your Squarespace DNS Settings by clicking "Refresh records." Green labels indicate successful connections.
Troubleshooting:
- Use the DNS checker tool if you see "Can't verify domain ownership"
- Wait full 72 hours before assuming there's an error
- Contact WordPress support for account-specific issues

Note: During the connection period, temporary errors are normal. If issues persist after 72 hours, review your DNS settings or contact support.
