Connect your Strato domain to Squarespace by following these essential steps:

Step 1 - Connect in Squarespace

1. Go to [Domains] panel
2. Click "Use your own domain"
3. Enter your domain name
4. Click "Connect Domain"
5. Select "Other"
6. Click "Continue"
7. Keep the DNS settings panel open for reference

Step 2 - Access Strato Settings

1. Log in to www.strato.de
2. Click "Manage Domain"
3. Navigate to DNS > Domain Management

Step 3 - Add First CNAME Record

• Type: CNAME
• Prefix: [unique verification code from Squarespace]
• Value: verify.squarespace.com
• SPF Rule: No SPF rule
• Click "Apply Settings"

Step 4 - Add Second CNAME Record

• Type: CNAME
• Prefix: www
• Value: ext-cust.squarespace.com
• SPF Rule: No SPF rule
• Click "Apply Settings"

Step 5 - Add A Record

1. Navigate to A Record settings
2. Click "Manage"
3. Enter IP: 198.185.159.144
4. Click "Apply Settings"

Important A Record Values:

• 198.185.159.144
• 198.185.159.145
• 198.49.23.144
• 198.49.23.145

Note: Only remove existing A records if they don't match these values. Keep mail-related records intact to maintain email service.

Step 6 - Wait for Connection

• Allow 24-72 hours for full connection
• Check progress in Squarespace DNS Settings
• Green "Connected" label indicates successful connection

Troubleshooting:

• Use DNS checker tool if you see "Cannot authenticate domain ownership"
• Wait full 72 hours before troubleshooting
• Contact Strato support for platform-specific issues

The connection is complete when you see a green "Connected" label in your Squarespace Domains panel.
