TXT records store text-based information for your domain. They're commonly used to verify domain ownership or set up email security. Here's how to add them to your domain:

Adding TXT Records

  1. Access your domain's DNS settings panel
  2. Navigate to Custom Records section
  3. Click "Add Record"
  4. Select "TXT" from the Type dropdown
  5. Enter hostname in Host field (use @ for root domain)
  6. Input the provided TXT value in Data field
  7. Click Save to apply changes

Important Notes:

  • TXT records may take 24-72 hours to propagate
  • Values are case-sensitive
  • Some services require specific formatting
  • Verify the exact hostname and value with your service provider

Common Uses:

  • Domain ownership verification
  • SPF records for email security
  • DKIM authentication
  • Google Workspace setup
  • Microsoft 365 verification

Troubleshooting Tips:

  • Double-check the hostname and TXT value
  • Ensure no extra spaces in the value
  • Wait for DNS propagation
  • Verify changes using dig or nslookup tools

Remember to keep a record of any TXT entries you add, as they may be needed for future reference or troubleshooting.

For domains with multiple TXT records, ensure each serves a unique purpose to avoid conflicts or authentication issues.
