Connect your GoDaddy domain to Squarespace using either Nameserver Connect or DNS Connect. Here's how to do it properly:

Prerequisites:

  • Verify your domain meets Squarespace's third-party domain requirements
  • Remove active DNS records on GoDaddy
  • Keep GoDaddy's default nameservers intact
  • Note: For .ca, .au, or .com.au domains, use DNS Connect only

Option 1: Nameserver Connect (Recommended)

  1. In Squarespace:
  • Open Domains panel
  • Click "Use a domain I own"
  • Enter your domain name
  • Click "Connect domain"
  • Select "Get Started"
  1. In GoDaddy:
  • Sign in to your account
  • Access DNS Management settings
  • Find Nameservers and click "Change"
  • Choose "Enter my own nameservers"
  • Add these nameservers:
    • connect1.squarespacedns.com
    • connect2.squarespacedns.com
  • Save changes and confirm
  1. Return to Squarespace:
  • Click "Finish"
  • Click "Done"

Option 2: DNS Connect

  1. In Squarespace:
  • Open Domains panel
  • Click "Use a domain I own"
  • Enter domain name
  • Select "No, use DNS records"
  • Choose GoDaddy from dropdown
  • Sign in to GoDaddy
  • Click "Connect"
  • Click "Continue"

Connection Time:

  • Nameserver Connect: Up to 24 hours
  • DNS Connect: Up to 72 hours

Troubleshooting Tips:

  1. Monitor connection progress in the Domains panel
  2. If errors persist after waiting period:
    • Reset to GoDaddy's default nameservers
    • Log out of GoDaddy
    • Disconnect domain from Squarespace
    • Try manual connection

For additional support:

  • Contact GoDaddy support for account-specific issues
  • Check Squarespace's troubleshooting guides
  • Review GoDaddy's documentation

Note: For subdomains (e.g., blog.yourdomain.com), follow Squarespace's third-party subdomain connection guide instead.
