Apple Pay: A Fast and Secure Payment Option for Your Online Store

Accepting Apple Pay adds a fast, secure payment option for your store customers. Research shows that stores accepting Apple Pay have a 2.6% higher order completion rate compared to card-only stores.

Apple Pay Requirements:

  • Only works with Safari browser
  • Available for physical products only
  • Order total must exceed €0.00
  • Customer must have Apple Pay set up on their device
  • No additional transaction fees apply

Note: Digital products, subscriptions, and bundles cannot be purchased using Apple Pay.

Enabling Apple Pay:

  1. Open In-store Payments panel
  2. Select Squarespace Payments or Stripe
  3. Ensure "Accept Apple Pay" toggle is set to On

Customer Checkout Process:

  • Available for Safari users (iOS 10, macOS Sierra, or later)
  • Automatically fills billing information
  • Shows taxes and shipping fees after clicking Apple Pay icon
  • Requires saved shipping address
  • Defaults to cheapest shipping option

Important Restrictions:

  • In-store pickup requires clear location information in option name
  • Free shipping discounts must apply to all shipping options
  • Cannot limit free shipping to specific options with Apple Pay

Supported Devices:

  • iPhone SE, 6, 6 Plus, and newer
  • iPad Pro, Air 2, Mini 3, and newer
  • Apple Watch paired with supported iPhone
  • Mac with Touch ID

Testing Apple Pay:

  • Use Safari on supported device
  • Real payment card required
  • Can cancel order for refund
  • Transaction fees may apply
  • Available for both donations and purchases

Tracking Transactions:

  • View in Payments and Donations panels
  • Appears as standard credit card transaction
  • Detailed information available in payment processor
