Domain names with the .au and .com.au extensions are specifically designed for Australian businesses, organizations, and individuals. These domains follow strict registration requirements and guidelines set by the Australian Domain Administration (auDA).

Key Features and Requirements:

  • Must have an Australian address
  • No 5-day grace period or refunds after registration
  • Cannot be transferred to Squarespace
  • Can be transferred away from Squarespace at any time (no 60-day lock)
  • Whois Privacy is not available

Registration Requirements:

For .com.au domains:

  • Must be a registered Australian business or organization
  • Requires valid ABN (Australian Business Number) or ACN (Australian Company Number)
  • Entity name must match ABN/ACN documents

For .au domains:

  • Can be used by businesses, organizations, or individuals
  • Must have an Australian address
  • Additional entity types available (Charity, Citizen/Resident, Club, Non-Profit Organization, Private, Trade Union)

Additional Information Required:

  1. Entity Name: Business/organization name as per ABN/ACN
  2. Entity Type: Company, Partnership, Sole Proprietor, etc.
  3. ID: ABN or ACN number

Domain Expiration and Renewal:

  • Payment attempted 15 days before expiration
  • Retry attempts every 5 days until expiration
  • 30-day grace period after expiration for reactivation
  • Domain deleted if not reactivated within grace period

Updating Registration Information:

  1. Download Current Owner and New Owner forms
  2. Complete both forms with updated information
  3. Contact support team with completed forms
  4. Note: Changes result in domain ownership transfer and new registration period

This information transfers domain ownership and requires payment of current domain fees. The remaining registration period is forfeited upon information update.
